The Primetech Story
Primetech Patents is owned and managed by Chad Peterson. Chad grew into his techie side as a young teen, when he taught himself to code and began writing his own programs. He continued his computer studies in high school and college, where, during his compiler class, he impressed the professor enough that he was offered a programming job. He spent the rest of his college years as a games programmer for Erudite Software, and was a member of the team that released The Great Battles of Alexander. He also worked on the back-end database of a medical billing program. Shortly after graduating with a B.S. in Computer Science, he accepted a scholarship to Washington and Lee law school. After graduating cum laude he began his law career as a patent attorney with Howrey LLP.
Over almost a decade at Howrey, Chad gained valuable experience with claim construction issues and insights into the patenting process while working with such clients as Verizon Communications, Verizon Wireless, Caterpillar, Sun Microsystems, Coca-Cola, and VeriSign. He also had opportunities to keep his hands in the computer field as he drew on his extensive knowledge of computer languages (Chad is experienced with C, C++, C#, PHP, Java, JavaScript, Cobol, Prolog, and Lisp, among others) in analyzing code, and built a prior art database for the law firm in order to streamline the prior art search process. As his reputation in the law firm grew, he became the go-to guy for anything computer software related, and worked with patents in the fields of operating systems, cell phone networks, internet technology, automated machines, computer graphics, and much more.
Now that he owns his own practice, he’s made it his policy to give each client individualized attention in shepherding their patent through the patent office. In his spare time he plays on his grand piano and keeps his hand in programming by writing various applications, including textual analysis apps and artificial intelligence programs. He looks forward to hearing from you!
